All reputable race horse folks do NOT "stall up" their horses. They let them out on a regular basis. Most racehorse owners I've met actually keep their horses on all day turn out(weather permitting).
My view on it's risks, if your touching a horse or near one, you're at risk of getting injured by the horse. A horse has a risk of injuring HIMSELF. I owned a horse that I literally had pillows on top of fence poles. If I could, I would bubble wrapped that horse. He was so injury prone!!
